2023: Abia speaker wins Ikwuano/ Umuahia primary election

The speaker of Abia state House of Assembly chief Chinedum Orji, 
has won the primary election to contest into the Ikwuano Umuahia federal constituency in 2023 on platform of the Peoples Democratic Party.

He polled 86, votes to beat his closet rival Chief Obi Aguocha, who got 8 votes. 

The chairman Ikwuano/Umuahia primary election committee Chief Tony Nwaubani, who declared Orji the winner of the election, announced that other aspirants including Chidiebere Nwachukwu, scored 2 votes, Johnken Nwadinaobi got 2 votes, Ndubuisi John 1 vote, while Kelechi Onuruike scored nothing.

He pointed out that  99 delegates voted in the election, while the aspirants were six in number.

Nwaubani, told Journalists that the election  was conducted  free, fair and transparent manner.

He commended the delegates,  aspirants and supporters for conducting themselves in an orderly manner during the election.
