University security arrest student who faked his Kidnap Ogbonnaya Ikokwu, Umuahia


The Abia State University  security department has arrested a 200 level political science student identified as George Nnamdi, for faking his own kidnap.

 Nnamdi, had confessed after his arrest that he sent a text message to his friend around 3AM on Thursday that he has was kidnapped by 6 men carrying AK47 rifles alongside other three students to prank his friend .

He claimed that he had no criminal intention in engaging in such act and appealed for forgiveness for the pains caused the University as a result of such act.

 Also another friend of the Suspect and 300 level mass communication student ,Faith Godson, added that she received a text message from Nnamdi that he had been kidnapped and immediately alert the University security which swung into action and arrested George Nnamdi who was hiding in his lodge off the University campus.

Confirming the incident, the chief security officer ABSU, Retired Navy Commander ThankGod Evulobi, said they received a distress call that a student has been kidnapped and swung into action only to discover that George Nnamdi faked his own kidnap.

He added that they had made their findings known to the University senate to take appropriate action against the supposed victim inline with the rules and regulations guiding the University.

The suspect is still in the custody of ABSU security department while the verdict of the university senate is being awaited as at the time of filling this report.
