Gunmen attack Bende Police Station In Abia, raze down building Ogbonnaya Ikokwu, Umuahia


The Police station in Bende Local Government Area of Abia state, was attacked by yet to be identified gunmen on Wednesday night.

It was gathered  that one police operatives was shot in the leg, while the entire building was razed down.

A source from the area who spoke to our correspondent under the condition of anonymity said the gunmen shot into the air during the operation that lasted for about Fourty five minutes. 

The source said the incident threw the community into confusion as they could not sleep with two eyes closed.

The source added that suspects who where detained at the station were freed by the gunmen.

It was gathered that two vehicles and three motorcycles, including a  generator house close to the station was burnt down.

The source said that there was a heavy presence of soldiers who had arrived the area to restore normalcy on Thursday morning.

Recall that  four public facility has been attacked in the state in the last three days.

The Ubani police station located on Umuahia-Uzoakoli road was attacked on Sunday and some vehicles were burnt. 

Also the Independent National Electoral Commission and National Drug Law Enforcement Agency offices located at Amaekpu Ohafia was also attacked by unknown gunmen between Monday and Tuesday this week.
